Inman Aligners in Bracknell, Berkshire

The Inman Aligner is a simple removable appliance used to align front teeth quickly and safely. It is barely visible and removable, allowing the wearer to go brace-free for important occasions.

The Inman Aligner is similar to a retainer but has advantages over a retainer:

  • It can correct moderate crowding and rotation of teeth
  • Is more comfortable to wear as the spring is made of nickel titanium rather than stainless steel
  • No retention problems

It also has advantages over Invisalign:

  • Less hassle and expense with results in a shorter period of time
  • Achieve great results with just one appliance

However, the Inman Aligner is only used for treating the top and bottom front teeth, whereas Invisalign can treat full arches (all your teeth).

How does it Work?

The Inman Aligner has Nickel Titanium coil springs that power two aligner bows that gently oppose each other, guiding the teeth into their new position. These gentle forces are active over a very large range of movement, which is why the Inman Aligner works so quickly.

The squeeze effect of the two aligner bows on the front teeth. The inner bow behind the teeth pushes forwards, while the outer bow pulls back on the front teeth.

Treatment Process

Treatment is usually completed within 6-18 weeks. We'll give you a realistic guide of what to expect. A typical treatment with the Inman Aligner is as follows:

  • Impressions are needed so that the lab can fabricate your custom made Inman Aligner
  • Initial fitting of the Aligner
  • Wear the Aligner 16-20 hours a day
  • Regular Inman checks every 2-3 weeks
  • Once treatment is completed, retaining the Inman Aligner is recommended for life to prevent relapse
  • Retention can come in the form of a lingually bonded retainer or an Essix retainer

Essix Retainers

The Essix retainer is made of a clear durable plastic which snaps into place over your teeth. Once placed, your teeth and gums show through the plastic, making the retainers appear nearly invisible. The Essix retainer is used to maintain your orthodontic results.

Bonded Retainers

Lingually bonded retainers are positioned behind your teeth, thereby providing a discreet but secure positioning that prevents relapse and ensures excellent cosmetic results. Because they are bonded to the teeth, patients with bonded retainers can eat normally, clean and floss their teeth as normal.
